Traffic Regulation Order (TRO)

50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit

Rural Road Speed Reduction no.2

1) Notice is hereby given that Thurrock Borough Council, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 84 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the 1984 Act") and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, hereby gives notice that they have made the above Order on 7 July 2022, the Order will come into force on 4 August 2022.

2) The general effect of the Order would be to introduce a 50mph Speed Limit restriction (reducing from current de-restricted speed limit) at the locations specified below:

a) Fort Road, Tilbury, from its junction with Gun Hill and Coopers Shaw Road in a southwest direction for a distance of approximately 175m
b) Church Road, West Tilbury, from its junction with Coopers Shaw Road in an east direction to its junctions with Low Street Lane
c) Low Street Lane, East Tilbury, from its junction with Church Road in an north direction for a distance of approximately 135m

3) A copy of the Made Order together with the plans can be obtained from the Transport Development team by contacting us on 01375 652 652 during normal office hours and also on Thurrock Council's website at

4) Any person wishing to object to the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirements of the Act has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of on which the order is made apply for the purpose to the High Court.
