Work on the gas mains beneath London Road, West Thurrock is set to take place between May and October 2018.
Works are being carried out by Cadent Gas engineers as part of a planned programme to replace their gas mains.
From Tuesday 8 May, Cadent engineers be working overnight between the Purfleet side of the Queen Elizabeth II bridge to the junction of St Clements Way. Work will take place between 7pm and 5am. Temporary traffic lights will be in place while work is carried out.
Once that work is completed, daytime road works will start in London Road with the road closed to eastbound traffic and diversions along Oliver Road in place.

During this time you should allow more time for your journey if visiting intu Lakeside shopping centre and retail park, or other places nearby.
Bus routes are expected to continue along London Road during this time – go to the Ensignbus website for latest timetables.
Waste collections for residents of London Road will continue on their usual days of the week.

Why these works are taking place
Cadent Gas is replacing the old pipeline as part of its annual programme to upgrade the gas network. Further works will be carried out by Cadent at later dates, making the gas supply safer and more reliable for residents in the area.
Work will be carried out overnight until the junction of St Clements Road is reached. Cadent will also carry out essential work on the other side of the bridge.
