Speech, language and communication support

Overview

You can get advice and support if you are concerned your child has a difficulty with any of the following:

  • listening and attending
  • understanding what is being said
  • saying words and putting them in sentences
  • using correct sounds in words so he/she is understood
  • getting along with others

Depending on the age of your child, your first point of contact could be:

  • your health visitor
  • NHS speech and language drop-in service for children aged 0 to 4 years
  • your pre-school or nursery special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO)
  • your school inclusion manager or SENCO
