There are a number of independent organisations that offer helpful information and advice about suitable holidays for older people, or for people with disabilities.
Their experienced staff can:
- tell you what is available
- help you make holiday choices that are right for you and the person you care for
Options can include escorted day trips or longer holidays in the UK or abroad, which provide a friendly face and a little extra support to those travelling.
They will also provide details of specially adapted holiday accommodation suitable for a range of different disabilities.

Assistance from airlines
Many airlines have a 'Special Assistance Team' that can help you make informed choices and support you at every stage of booking your holiday, including help to get through airport security and when boarding the aircraft.
You should always tell your travel agent about your disability needs, and tell the airport or travel provider in advance as they may need time to make special arrangements.
