The Thurrock Business Board includes representatives from businesses and business organisations across a range of significant sectors in Thurrock, including:

  • ports, transport and logistics
  • retail
  • construction
  • business services
  • IT and communication
  • manufacturing
  • creative and cultural
  • education and skills
  • public sector
  • voluntary and community sector
  • financial

Role of the board

Its role is to provide a co-ordinated ‘business voice’ and an insight from the local business community on current trading conditions and experience of the real economy on a sector-by-sector basis.

Important areas of activity for the board include:

  • represent and lobby for business to ensure the right resources are present in the borough to support business competitiveness and growth
  • communicate, record and respond to business issues that influence regeneration and growth
  • contribute to the work of a task force or issue group where applicable
  • work with the us to develop an effective and long-term approach to business engagement
  • provide a co-ordinated business voice for Thurrock on issues of common interest affecting the local economy
  • provide a route for consultation and to cascade communication to business
  • provide a lead link for the South East Local Enterprise Partnership

Business ambassadors

Through the board we are in the process of developing a Thurrock business ambassadors programme to help raise the Thurrock's profile and actively promote economic growth in the borough.
