Historic Thurrock in numbers

The borough of Thurrock is situated at the most southerly borders of the county of Essex on the north banks of the River Thames. It has a long history of settlement going back to prehistoric times. Today it is the focus of industry, retailing and is hub for transportation by sea, rail and road.

It extends into two 'hundreds' - small administrative areas:
