Trading standards consumer advice
We have received reports that individuals and businesses exploiting the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak by selling products at very high prices. This does not breach regulations enforced by Trading Standards, but the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) would like to receive reports.
The CMA wants to make sure traders do not exploit the current situation to take advantage of people.
We urge retailers to behave responsibly and not to make misleading claims or charge vastly inflated prices.
This also applies to members of the public who re-sell goods – for example, through online markets.
You can report a business or individual by emailing the CMA, including the following information:
- your contact details
- the business or individual about whom you have concerns
- a description of the problem
- any supporting evidence
