Changes to reduce vehicle speed are being made around train stations for:

  • East Tilbury and Linford – on East Tilbury Road and Princess Margaret Road, between Dorset Gardens and the train station, from 11 December 2020
  • Purfleet-on-Thames – on London Road, between Church Hollow and Linnet Way, from 20 November 2020
  • South Ockendon – on West Road, between Arisdale Avenue and South Road, from 27 November 2020
  • Stanford-le-Hope – on London Road and Butts Lane, between London Road and St Andrew's Way, from 18 December 2020

These changes are being made using an 'Experimental Order' process. This allows us to make the changes and then consult on how they're working for at least 6 months.

Your views will help us decide whether the temporary changes should be made permanent or removed. The closing date for all comments is 30 June 2021.

The changes are being funded by the government's 'Emergency Active Travel Fund'. Some of this funding was used during the summer to make improvements near schools, to encourage more walking and cycling, and to improve signs and stencilling in busy areas to support the government's messages on coronavirus safety.
