What's on at your library

Coronavirus (COVID-19) – libraries

Belhus library, Corringham library and Grays library have reopened. Other libraries remain closed until further notice. You can access newspapers and magazines, get e-books and e-audio and take part in job club sessions online.

Go to our coronavirus (COVID-19) safety page for information on visiting re-opened libraries and items due for return. Items due between 1 January and 31 July have had their loan dates extended automatically to 1 September. Please do not put borrowed items in library book drops or letterboxes.

Get the most from your tablet

Small tablet computers with touchscreen displays are ideal for enjoying a range of hobbies and interests.

We have already helped nearly 600 local people get the best out of their tablet, introducing them to the world of apps and free services such as our e-books, e-audio, and e-magazine services.

Free sessions are available in all libraries, helping you to get the most from your tablet. You'll be able to find out more about:

  • apps
  • security settings
  • back-ups
  • downloading from the web
  • using your tablet's camera
  • editing photos
  • videos

Each session lasts 2 hours, and you can come to as many as you like.

To take advantage of the service, register interest with staff at your local library.

Dates and times are confirmed when enough people have registered for sessions to begin.
