Local Development Order 2024

A Local Development Order (LDO) removes the need to obtain planning permission for certain kinds of development in a specified area.

In November 2013, we adopted the London Gateway Logistics Park Local Development Order (2013). This permitted up to 829,700 square metres of commercial floorspace. It expired in early November 2023 with 337,225 square metres of floorspace having been completed or consented on site.

New Local Development Order

Local Development Order 1.5 (LDO1.5) would enable the development of up to 85,000 square metres of additional Use Class B8 floorspace – storage or distribution – on the London Gateway Logistics Park.

LDO1.5 is proposed as an interim LDO pending the preparation of a further LDO to enable the development of the remaining plots on the logistics park. LDO1.5 would be valid for 1 year unless a replacement LDO is made by Thurrock Council prior to that date.

Copies of the proposed Local Development Order, Statement of Reasons, the Heads of Terms of a Section 106 Agreement and other supporting documents are available below.
