Blackshots Library, Chadwell Library and Aveley Library and Hub are closing at 1pm today and for the remainder of the week (including Saturday) due to the extreme heat conditions. Any items due over this period can be renewed online via My Library app or online. We will continue to monitor the weather for any further closures or changes.

Intervention and improvement
We're making major changes to improve the way we are managed, to achieve financial stability, and to make the council fit for the future.
In September 2022, we were put into intervention by the Government. Since then, work has been underway to make the council better and more efficient.
