Your responsibilities in temporary accommodation

While you are staying in temporary accommodation, you are expected to take reasonable care of the property and behave responsibly.

Looking after your accommodation

You should:

  • keep the property clean and tidy
  • dispose of rubbish appropriately
  • treat the property, furniture, fixtures and fittings with care
  • respect your neighbours and the local community
  • report repairs and maintenance issues as soon as possible
  • allow access for inspections, repairs and safety checks when required
  • tell your Temporary Accommodation Officer about any changes in your circumstances

Your occupation agreement

You must follow the conditions in your occupation agreement while you are staying in temporary accommodation.

If you do not follow these conditions, it could affect the council's duties towards you.

If you are unsure about your responsibilities, contact the Temporary Accommodation Team by emailing TA@thurrock.gov.uk.
