Adult care centre to host open afternoon

24 October 2022

Thurrock Council's Extra Care Service, which provides vulnerable members of the community with 'assisted living' support, is hosting an open afternoon event this November.

Residents and members of the local community are invited to Piggs Corner in Southend Road, Grays on Friday 4 November to find out how elderly residents are supported to live an independent life in a warm and comforting care setting.

Cllr Deborah Arnold, Cabinet member for Adults and Health, said: "Our open afternoon is a perfect opportunity for local people who have elderly or vulnerable friends or family members, and are considering what care options are available, to discover our Extra Care Service.

"Not only does this fantastic service offer our users as much independence as possible to live their lives as they wish, it also goes above and beyond to do this with a profound level of kindness and respect.

"I invite those interested in finding out more to come along and meet our friendly team who can answer any questions they may have, view our accommodation arrangements at the Piggs Corner complex, and speak with our service users as they host a number of arts and craft activities for the afternoon, to see how the service benefits them."

The event will take place from 2pm to 6pm on Friday 4 November at the Piggs Corner complex, Southend Road, Grays, RM17 5RS.
