Fantastic new play area in Chadwell St Mary

8 August 2025

Cllr Steve Liddiard officially opened a new play area in Chadwell St Mary Park on the Heath on Thursday 7 August.

It boasts a new adventure castle with slides, ladders and a climbing wall, swings, roundabout and nature explorers to help little ones identify the flowers and creepy crawlies they might find in the park. It has all been built on a soft play safety surface.

The new play area incorporates ideas put forward by the Chadwell Community Forum, local ward councillors and through the council’s Communities in Action pilot currently taking place in Chadwell St Mary

The council also worked with Thurrock Play Partnership and the Pyramid Resource Centre to create the new play area.

Cllr Liddiard said: “This is a fantastic new play area and has some great new pieces of equipment for children to have lots of fun on.

“Parks like this are more than just places to relax. They’re places to connect, to grow, and to build lasting memories.

“I want to thank everyone who contributed to this project, from our council teams to the local groups, like Chadwell Community Forum. Thurrock Play Network and residents who shared their thoughts through our surveys and helped shape this space.

“I would especially like to thank the Pyramid Resource Centre, which helped us turn those community ideas into reality.

“I hope everyone values and enjoys this new play area.”
