Spooky Halloween is the central theme of Thurrock Museum’s offering over the half term holidays.
Our museum, in the Thameside Complex, offers free museum tours where you can learn about Thurrock’s haunted history and make some creepy crafts. The free one-hour sessions are most suitable for families with children aged 5 to 10. The first sessions are on Tuesday 20 October, with more on 23, 27 and 28 October. First come, first served. Check the link below for times and more details.
While there, visit the Toys Through Time exhibition which is free and open until 29 October.
“Being a witch is super exciting. Especially around Halloween. And maybe that's why Natascha The Witch can't sleep...” The Witch Who Couldn’t Sleep is a great show for all the family, perfect for ages 2 to 102. It takes place 2pm, Thursday 29 October, at the Thameside Theatre.
Meanwhile, over at Coalhouse Fort, there’s the opportunity for the family to get creatively inspired by the historic setting, with free writing workshops on Wednesday 28 October and free creative art workshops on Thursday 29 October.
And don’t forget our libraries always have loads of activities for children and young people over the holidays, including special spooky Halloween events for the young ones, as well as its many year-round activities for children and adults.
Got a Halloween costume you no longer want? Bring it down to our Halloween Costume Swap Shop, at Grays Library, Wednesday 28 October, 10am to 1pm, and help another family enjoy it this year.
Cllr George Monk, Portfolio Holder for Heritage and Culture, said: "This half term is a fantastic chance to explore some of Thurrock’s great attractions and community facilities. From Grangewaters and Coalhouse Fort to our museum, libraries and Thameside Theatre, there are activities to suit all ages and interests."
