Have Your Say on Thurrock's Licensing Policy

The council is reviewing its Licensing Policy and we want to hear your views.

The Licensing Policy helps guide decisions about licensed premises and activities across the borough, including pubs, bars, restaurants, shops selling alcohol, or tobacco and vapes, entertainment venues and community events.

The policy aims to promote the key licensing objectives: preventing crime and disorder, protecting public safety, preventing public nuisance and protecting children from harm.

As part of this review, we are proposing a number of updates to reflect changes in legislation, national guidance and emerging issues, including drink spiking, violence against women and girls, terrorism preparedness, outdoor seating areas and child exploitation.

Whether you are a resident, local business, licence holder, community organisation or visitor, your feedback is important and will help shape the final policy.

Cllr Russell Cherry, Portfolio Holder for Veterans, Enforcement and Environment, said: "Our Licensing Policy helps shape how licensed premises operate across Thurrock and plays a vital role in keeping our communities safe while supporting a vibrant local economy. We want to ensure the policy strikes the right balance between supporting responsible businesses and protecting local communities.”
