We’re excited to announce that in January, we will be opening a brand-new Re-use Shop — a community space where good-quality, pre-loved items can find new homes instead of ending up in landfill.
The shop, situated in our Linford Household Waste and Recycling Centre, will sell donated household items at affordable prices, helping local families while reducing Thurrock’s waste. But to make this project a success, we need your help.
We are calling on everyone (residents and non- residents) to donate good-quality items that others can use.
Why donate?
Every year, thousands of usable items are thrown away simply because they’re no longer needed and we want to support residents to recycle more so we can collectively improve our recyling rate in the borough. By donating, you can:
- Reduce waste in Thurrock
- Help others access affordable furniture, homeware, toys, clothes and more
- Give your items a second life, keeping valuable resources in circulation
What we’re looking for:
- Small furniture in good condition
- Homeware and kitchen items (we cannot accept items used for food preparation such as mixers, blenders etc)
- Power tools
- Books, games, and toys
- Small working electricals
- Decorative items, lamps, mirrors, artwork
If it’s clean, safe, and usable, chances are we can find it a new home.
How to Donate:
Donations can be dropped off at the Re-use Shop at Linford Household Waste and Recycling Centre, Buckingham Hill Road, Linford, SS17 0PP between 8am and 4pm. The Re-use Shop is opened now for donations and will be opened for residents to buy items in January.
