Thurrock Council’s Reactive Highways Maintenance Team has completed a series of repairs across the borough, helping to keep roads, footways, and public spaces safe and well maintained.
The team carries out a wide range of reactive repairs, including highway and footway works, drainage repairs, street furniture maintenance and emergency responses to hazards.
Recent works have been completed in South Ockendon, Tilbury and Brandon Groves.
On South Road, South Ockendon, the team repaired a collapsed surface water gully. The top of the drainage chamber was reconstructed, a new frame and gully grate installed, and the surrounding carriageway resurfaced.
On Brennan Road and Dunlop Road, Tilbury, damaged and missing ornamental bollards were removed and replaced, helping to restore street features and protect the surrounding public space.
At Whitebeam Drive, Brandon Groves, damaged block paving and kerbs were reconstructed after vehicles had overrun the footway, removing a trip hazard and restoring safer access for pedestrians.
The works form part of the council’s ongoing programme of reactive highway maintenance, responding to defects identified through routine inspections, reports from residents and enquiries raised by ward councillors.
Cllr Richard Bingley, Leader of Thurrock Council, said: “Keeping our roads, footways and public spaces safe and well maintained is an important part of restoring civic pride across Thurrock.
“These repairs may be relatively small individually, but dealing with defects quickly helps prevent them becoming bigger problems and makes a real difference to the safety and appearance of our neighbourhoods.
“Residents can help us identify issues by continuing to report highway problems through our online reporting service.”
