The proposed site area for developing proposals for the future of the Blackshots Tower Blocks were agreed at Cabinet this evening, Wednesday 15 March.
These plans include the demolition and re-development of the three 11-storey tower blocks – Keir Hardie House, Bevan House and Morrison House – on the Blackshots estate in Grays.
Cllr Luke Spillman, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "This is another great step forward for the redevelopment of the Blackshots Tower Blocks, which is long overdue.
"Alternative options have been looked at, and the most effective way to deal with the tower blocks is to demolish them and redevelop the sites for new, affordable homes for Thurrock residents.
"It is vital that residents have a voice in this scheme so we will be ensuring residents are consulted with and supported every step of the way. They will also have access to an Independent Tenant Adviser as proposals are developed.
"Everyone should have access to a good quality home that meets the requirements of today’s modern living."
