Hundreds discover career opportunities at Apprenticeship and Jobs Fair

13 February 2026

Hundreds of people of all ages attended a careers fair to explore job, apprenticeship, and training opportunities.

The free event, held on Tuesday 10 February, was delivered in partnership between Thurrock Council and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) at the Thameside Theatre in Grays.

A range of leading employers were on hand to promote their latest vacancies, including Border Force, the NHS, Marfleet & Bradshaw, and the Royal Opera House.

Cllr Lee Watson, Cabinet Member for Good Growth, said:  “It’s fantastic that the Thameside was able to welcome so many residents and showcase the range of exciting job opportunities available in our borough. Thank you to all of the employers and training providers who took part. I’m sure many people left with a better idea of the career paths they could pursue.

“If you weren’t able to make it to the fair but would like career support, please do visit one of our Inspire Hubs, where the team can help with everything from CV writing to preparing for job interviews.”

Cllr Vikki Hartstean, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Education and Community Safety, added: “It can feel daunting coming out of school or college and having to decide your next steps. Hopefully, the Apprenticeship and Jobs Fair helped to highlight just how many opportunities are available for our young people.”
