Talk to Thurrock Council’s top team about Local Government Reorganisation

31 July 2025

Residents, local businesses and other stakeholders will have an opportunity to speak with Thurrock Council’s top team to learn more about what Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) will mean for the borough and ask any questions they may have.

The council has set up two public question time events in August, the first online through a live video meeting and the second face-to-face/in-person at the Thameside Theatre.

  • The online meeting will take place on Wednesday 6 August between 7pm and 8pm
  • The face-to-face public question time event will be held at the Thameside Complex in Grays on Tuesday 19 August starting at 7pm

Cllr Lynn Worrall, Leader of Thurrock Council, said: “This reorganisation presents a great opportunity to improve local government in Thurrock.

“We are keen to hear from residents and other key stakeholders before we submit our ideas to the government. These reforms will make changes which will last decades and our public engagement on this topic is important. Residents’ views will help shape our plans and make sure they reflect and protect Thurrock’s own community priorities.

“In July we launched our own public engagement campaign to learn more about what residents think. I encourage people to visit our website and take part in the survey. These two new question and answer sessions will provide another opportunity for as many people as possible to have their say.

“If you have any questions or want to tell us something you think it’s important we hear, then I urge you to join one of these sessions and get involved.”

More information about the events, including details of how to register to take part, can be found on the council’s website at: https://consult.thurrock.gov.uk/lgr
