What are your thoughts on the future of Local Government in Thurrock?

20 August 2025

Let us know before our survey closes on Wednesday 27 August.

Take part in our Have Your Say on Local Government Reorganisation survey.

We are asking Thurrock residents to share your views now on the Government’s proposals for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), which aims to simplify council structures and strengthen local decision-making.

Under the current proposals, all 15 councils across Greater Essex would be replaced with fewer, larger authorities. Since the plans were announced, councils have been working together to explore the best way forward, taking into consideration the existing structures and important local issues like transport links, housing needs, health priorities, and financial stability. Options being considered include the creation of 3,4, or even 5 new large authorities.

These changes will affect you, so it is important we hear your views.

Any future council model must reflect the needs of Thurrock residents and communities. Your feedback will play a vital role in shaping decisions that affect our area for years to come.

Take part in our Have Your Say on Local Government Reorganisation survey.

The survey closes on Wednesday 27 August.

Thank you to everyone who has responded so far, and those who attended our public question time on Tuesday 19 August.
