Residents can expect to see improvements at the Titan Works site on Titan Road after proactive engagement by the Council’s Planning Enforcement officers secured a commitment from the landowner to undertake significant site improvement works.
The land at Titan Works had fallen into an untidy condition, negatively affecting the appearance of the area and prompting concerns about its visual impact on the local environment.
Council Planning Enforcement officers carried out site inspections and, working closely with the landowner and their appointed representative, identified actions needed to improve the site. This included meetings on site to discuss clearance works and the replacement of existing fencing with more secure boundary fencing.
Following discussions, the landowner instructed a contractor and agreed for improvement works to begin this week.
The programme of works includes site clearance and upgraded boundary fencing, helping to improve the appearance of the site and enhance the surrounding environment.
Councillor Richard Bingley, Leader of Thurrock Council, said: "The condition of the Titan Works site had become a concern for the community, and I’m pleased our officers have worked constructively with the landowner to secure a commitment to address these issues. This is a good example of how proactive engagement can achieve meaningful improvements without the need for formal enforcement action.”
The project supports the Council's Civic Pride priorities around behaviour change, enforcement and accountability, while also contributing to cleaner, safer and better-maintained places for local communities.
