More Buses, More Often: Boost to services on key routes

11 February 2026

Residents will soon benefit from more frequent and more convenient bus services, as the Council expands operations on two of the borough’s busiest routes, delivering extra evening and weekend journeys.

From Sunday 22 February, the popular 100 service (Lakeside to Basildon, via Grays, Stanford‑le‑Hope and Corringham) will run every 30 minutes during evenings from Monday to Saturday. Sunday evenings will also see the introduction of a new hourly service, giving residents more flexibility to travel later in the day.

The 200 service (Grays to Basildon, via Little Thurrock, Tilbury, Chadwell St Mary, Stanford‑le‑Hope and Corringham) is also receiving a significant upgrade.

Commuters and shift workers will benefit from earlier start times and later evening journeys Monday to Saturday, while Sundays will shift to a new 90‑minute frequency, making weekend travel easier than ever.

These improvements follow last month’s expansion of the 88 service to a seven‑day operation, further strengthening the borough’s transport network.

Cllr Victoria Holloway, Cabinet Member for Place and the Environment, said:
“Buses are a lifeline for so many of our residents. By extending these services, we’re giving people greater freedom to travel, whether it’s getting to work, supporting local shops and leisure venues, or simply visiting family and friends.”

The enhancements are funded through the Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan.
