Construction is underway on six modern council homes on a disused garage site, providing much needed homes for local people.
The development in Lyndhurst Road, Stanford-Le-Hope, carried out by contractor Auburn Group, will provide six council homes, with private gardens and green space for everyone to enjoy.
Cllr Rob Willoughby, Portfolio Holder for Adult Health and Housing Services and Cllr Tom Kelly, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, visited the building site this week to check on progress in transforming the disused garage site into the new council dwellings.
Cllr Willoughby said: “This excellent example of taking underused council land and using it to provide quality family council homes which will be for local people.”
Cllr Kelly said: “By delivering good-quality, genuinely affordable homes alongside improvements to the wider neighbourhood, we can create stronger, more sustainable communities and ensure local people share in the benefits of regeneration.”
Another disused garage site, at Vigerons Way, Chadwell St Mary, is also being utilised to provide new council homes.
Also in attendance at the Lyndhurst Road site was local ward member Councillor Ian Croom.
The homes on Lyndhurst Road are expected to be ready by summer 2027.
