A new Leader of Thurrock Council will be elected at the Council’s Annual Meeting on Wednesday 27 May following the elections on Thursday 7 May. The Leader will then appoint their cabinet and a Deputy Leader of the Council.
Annual Council marks the start of the new year for the Council. The Council will first elect a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Thurrock.
Appointments to council committees and overview and scrutiny committees will be agreed, as well as appointments of chairs and vice chairs to the committees, and the meeting timetable for the year ahead.
The overall election results for Thurrock were:
- Reform UK – 45 seats
- Labour Party – 2 seats
- Conservative Party – 2 seats
