Repair work helps keep Thurrock's streets safe and well maintained

Thurrock Council has completed a series of repairs across the borough as part of its Civic Pride programme to create clean, safe and well-maintained places.

Recent work has included repairing damaged safety railings in Tilbury, reinstating a bollard and repairing footway damage in South Ockendon, and replacing damaged footway surfaces in Aveley.

The repairs were carried out by the council's Reactive Highway Maintenance team, which responds to issues identified through inspections as well as concerns reported by residents, councillors and local communities.

At Cowper Avenue in Tilbury, damaged metal railings were reinstated using existing materials where possible. In Broxburn Drive, South Ockendon, a damaged bollard was reset and the surrounding footway repaired. In Aveley, sections of damaged footway at Blenheim Gardens and Toplands Avenue were replaced to improve safety and appearance.

These types of repairs are carried out every day to help keep Thurrock's roads, pavements and street furniture safe and in good condition.

Cllr Richard Bingley, Leader of Thurrock Council, said: "Small repairs can make a big difference to how our neighbourhoods look and feel.

"Whether it's repairing a damaged footway, reinstating safety railings or fixing street furniture, these improvements help make our streets safer and more pleasant for residents.

"This work is part of our commitment to restoring civic pride and creating clean, safe and well-maintained places across Thurrock."
