Residents meet Thurrock Council’s top team at Tilbury for third ‘Ask the council!’ public question time

27 June 2025

Residents had the chance to put their questions directly to members of Thurrock Council’s cabinet and leadership team during the third ‘Ask the council!’ public question time on Wednesday 25 June.

The question time event, held at Tilbury Community Association, brought together residents from across the borough for an engaging discussion about the council's plans, as well as the issues and concerns most important to them. Subjects raised that were of specific interest to Tilbury residents included air pollution, grass cutting and the Tilbury Towns Fund plans.

The panel was made up of the council’s cabinet members and the senior officer team including the Chief Executive, Dr Dave Smith.

Cllr Lynn Worrall, Leader of Thurrock Council said: “We're committed to being an open and honest council. Our Ask the council question times gave us an opportunity to speak directly with our residents and talk to them about the issues that matter most to them.

"It was great to see so many people take the time out of their week to come and talk to us, share their thoughts and ideas for our borough, and listen to some of the work we're doing as a council.

"There were plenty of great questions that were put to our team, from waste collection to council housing and investment in the borough. We were also able to share an update on devolution and local government reorganisation and hear some of our resident's views on it.

"We’ve taken away a lot of actions, and where we couldn’t answer on the night, will get back to residents as soon as possible."

Notification of future events will be available on our website and in our residents newsletter.
