Road resurfacing improves key routes in Tilbury

Thurrock Council has completed a resurfacing scheme on sections of Fort Road and Cooper Shaw Road in Tilbury, improving road conditions and helping to extend the life of the local highway network.

The works were carried out as part of the council's ongoing programme to maintain and improve roads across the borough.

To improve the condition of the roads, the council resurfaced sections of both routes and carried out additional repairs where the road surface had become uneven.

The work has created a smoother journey for road users and helped protect the roads from further damage.

While the resurfacing work was taking place, surveys were carried out to better understand the underlying condition of the roads. This information will help the council plan future improvements and make the best use of investment in the highway network.

Cllr Richard Bingley, Leader of Thurrock Council, said: "Keeping our roads in good condition is an important part of restoring civic pride across Thurrock.

"These resurfacing works in Tilbury have improved the look and condition of the carriageway, creating smoother and safer journeys for residents, businesses and visitors.

"Alongside the improvements people can see today, the survey work carried out as part of the scheme will help us make informed decisions about future investment, ensuring our highway network remains resilient and fit for the future.

"This is another example of how we are working to create clean, safe and well-maintained places across the borough."
