Secondary school places for September 2024

1 March 2024

Over three-quarters of pupils who are expected to begin secondary school in Thurrock this September have been offered their top school choice.

Results announced today (Friday 1 March), revealed that 77.7% of students will be able to attend their most preferred school, with 91.1% of children being allocated one of their top 3 preferences.

This is a welcomed increase of 3.5% more students being allocated a space in one of their top 3 preference schools in comparison to the year before, despite 2,522 applications.

Cllr Adam Carter, Cabinet Member for Education, said: "The Children's Services team has once again worked incredibly hard to offer school places to over 2,500 young people across Thurrock, as the next group of students make the exciting step up to secondary school.

"It is a tremendous achievement that over nine out of every ten children in Thurrock are receiving one of their top three choices, as we continue to work on placing as many children in local schools as possible.

"If you applied online for a secondary school place, you can use the council's online system today to check which school place has been offered. For applicants who did not apply online, this has been sent by post and you will shortly receive an offer letter.

"I wish all our young people the best of luck as they continue their educational journey and continue to learn, develop and achieve in Thurrock."

Parents who have applied for Primary school places starting in September 2024 will receive their school offer on Tuesday 16 April 2024.
