Council highways and ground maintenance teams sprang into action to repair a knee rail and tidy up the car park at the Thomas Bata Memorial Site in East Tilbury.
On learning that the rail had been damaged, highways engineers quickly arranged for a replacement to be fitted and the broken knee rail to be removed. While they worked, a ground maintenance team cleared up behind them, blowing leaves and sweeping up to leave the car park clear.
Cllr Richard Bingley said: “This type of everyday action helps restore civic pride in the borough. We want people to enjoy our heritage sites, such as the Thomas Bata Memorial, and seeing damaged and down-at-heel car parks reduces that enjoyment.
“This kind of joined-up work helps tackle issues as they happen and keeps the borough looking neat and tidy for residents and visitors alike.”
