Congratulations to Thurrock Voices, the adult community choir, which has been shortlisted for a national award.
The choir, organised by Arts Outburst, is in the running for the Best Age-Friendly Outreach award at the Fantastic for Families Awards 2025, organised by the Family Arts Campaign.
Thurrock Voices was created to bring people together through the joy of singing, reducing loneliness and isolation, and improving wellbeing, confidence and self-expression. The choir is committed to providing an age-friendly, inclusive space where people of all abilities feel valued and supported. No experience is needed and there are no auditions.
The Fantastic for Families national awards, funded by Arts Council England, celebrate organisations that improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and create meaningful creative opportunities for older people and adults across the UK.
Arts Outburst has been co-creating arts and cultural projects with the people of Thurrock and beyond for nearly 20 years.
Daryl Branch, CEO and artistic director of Arts Outburst, said: “Thurrock Voices has shown us time and again how something as simple as singing together can change lives. This nomination is a wonderful recognition of the power of creativity to bring communities together.”
Winners will be announced in an online ceremony on 20 November 2025.
