Tributes have been paid to Terry Piccolo, who sadly passed away on Monday 6 July.
Mr Piccolo was Mayor of Thurrock from May 2019 until May 2021, the only person to ever serve two consecutive terms as Mayor of the borough. The flags at the council’s Civic Offices have been lowered to half-mast, to mark his passing.
He is survived by his wife Joan.
Cllr William Cook, the current Mayor of Thurrock, said: “It was with great sadness that we learned of former Mayor Piccolo’s passing. Each Mayor of Thurrock plays a hugely important role in civic life and it is always a loss to our borough when a former Mayor leaves us.
“In addition to his mayoral responsibilities, Mayor Piccolo supported our communities through the uncharted waters of the Covid-19 pandemic, and was also one of the pioneers of our local community forums network. We are grateful for Mr Piccolo’s service, and on behalf of the borough I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the Piccolo family, and their friends.”
