Public notice

1. Notice is hereby given that Thurrock Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under sections 1, 2, 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter referred to as “the 1984 Act”) and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, intends to make the above named Order (“the Proposed Order”).

    

2. The general effect of the Order would be to: 

1. Revoke Prohibition of Waiting At Any Time for Commercial Vehicles exceeding 7.5tonnes:

   1. The Borough of Thurrock, Kenningtons Estate, Aveley (Prohibition of Waiting) – (Vehicles Exceeding 7.5 Tonnes Laden Weight, Except to Load and Unload) (Order 1987)

      1. The Borough of Thurrock (South Ockendon Area) (Prohibition of Waiting of Commercial Vehicles of 7.5 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight) Order 1982

      2. The Borough of Thurrock (South Ockendon Area) (Prohibition of Waiting of Heavy Commercial Vehicles the Maximum Gross Weight of Which Exceeds 7.5 Tonnes) Order 1983

       

   2. Introduce Prohibition of Waiting At Any Time for Commercial Vehicles exceeding 7.5tonnes:

      1. The “Aveley, Ockendon and North Stifford” Area means the area within the Borough of Thurrock bounded by a northern boundary of North Road approximately 50m north of its junction with Cheelson Road (South Ockendon), an eastern boundary of Medebridge Road (Grays), a southern boundary of the northern side of Arterial Road and a western boundary of Sandy Lane (Aveley) at junction with A1306, not inclusive of Arterial Road, A13 and M25. 

3. A copy of the Proposed Order together with the plans can be viewed on Thurrock Council’s website at thurrock.gov.uk/publicnotices. Alternatively the proposals can be viewed by appointment during normal office hours (Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm) by contacting the Transport Delivery Team via troconsultations@thurrock.gov.uk.  Those who are unable to use email can phone 01375 652652.

    

4. Any support/objection to the Proposed Order must be made in writing, giving the grounds on which it is made and sent to the following address Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL or sent via email to troconsultations@thurrock.gov.uk to arrive on or before 17th September 2026. Any comments may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
