Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic
Burghley Road, Chafford Hundred
1) The Borough Council of Thurrock is satisfied that it is necessary to restrict or prohibit traffic in the above road without delay because of the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road.
2) The Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, has therefore made the following Notice:
- Prohibit any vehicles from travelling along Burghley Road between its junctions with Pilgrims Way roundabout and Gibert Road roundabout.
3) The purpose of the Notice is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out urgent works to the carriageway.
4) The alternative route for southbound vehicles will be Burghley Road, Pilgrims Lane roundabout, Arterial Road, Arterial Road Roundabout A1306, West Thurrock Way, West Thurrock Way Retail Park roundabout, West Thurrock Way, Lancaster roundabout, Link Road From Lakeside Interchange Off A13 To West Thurrock Way, Slip Road From A126 To Lakeside Central roundabout, Lakeside Central roundabout, Fenner Road, Fenner Road
roundabout, and Burghley Road roundabout and vice versa for northbound vehicles. Access will be maintained for residents.
5) The Notice comes into force at 21:00hrs on 28th January 2026 and will be valid for 5 days. It is however expected that the works will be completed during the one night. It will apply only on those days and during those times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
