Christchurch Road, Toronto Road, Quebec Road and Ottowa Road - Tilbury

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic

1.The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, intends to make an Order the effect
of which is to: -
 

- Prohibit any vehicle from travelling along Christchurch Road between its junctions
with Toronto Road and St Chads Road.
 

- Prohibit any vehicle from parking At Any Time along both kerb lines of Christchurch
Road between its junctions with Toronto Road and St Chads Road.
 

- Prohibit any vehicle from parking At Any Time along both kerb lines of Toronto Road
from a point approx 25m south of its junction with Christchurch Road for a distance
of approx. 50m in a northerly direction.
 

- Prohibit any vehicle from parking along the eastern kerb line of Ottowa Road
between its junctions with Christchurch Road and Calcutta Road.
 

- Prohibit any vehicle from parking along the western kerb line of Quebec Road from a
point approx 7m south of its junction with Christchurch Road for a distance of
approx. 213m in a southerly direction.
 

- Temporarily revoke the northbound travel only on Ottowa Road.
 

- Temporarily revoke the southbound travel only on Quebec Road.


2) The purpose of the Order is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out carriageway
resurfacing.


3) The alternative route for eastbound vehicles is Toronto Road, Calcutta Road, and St Chads
Road, and vice versa for westbound vehicles. Access will be maintained for residents and
businesses at all times.


4) The Order will come into force on the 1st July 2026 at 08:00hrs. Works are currently
scheduled to take place during the one day betwen the hours of 08:00 and 17:00. Exact
dates however will always be specified on https://one.network/?tm=GB150647695 It
only applies to those days and times when indicated on site by the presence of the
appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General
Directions 2016.


5) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order
will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been
completed, whichever is the sooner.


6) If the works are not completed within 18 months, the Order may be extended for a longer
period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
