Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic
Crown Road and Maidstone Road, Grays
1) The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, has made an Order the effect of which is to:
- Prohibit any vehicle from travelling along Maidstone Road from between its junctions with London Road and Crown Road.
- Prohibit any vehicle from travelling along Crown Road between its junction with Maidstone Road and the exit to the Multi Storey Car Park.
- Prohibit any vehicle from parking along the Taxi Rank on Crown Road. 2) The purpose of the Order is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out highway improvement works.
3) The alternative route for eastbound vehicles is London Road, Eastern Way, Hogg Lane Roundabout, Hogg Lane, Orsett Road, Stanley Road, Crown Road/Stanley Road Roundabout, and Crown Road and vice versa for westbound vehicles.
4) In this Order the Taxi Rank is referred to as: the Taxi Rank on the westbound carriageway of Crown Road from a point approx. 58m west of the Multi-Storey car park exit for a distance of approx 136m in a westerly direction.
5) The Order will come into force on the 2nd February 2026 at 19:00hrs and remain in force continuously until 17th February 2026 at 17:00hrs, however the closure will only be in force between 7th February at 17:00hrs and 8th February at 17:00hrs. Exact dates however will always be specified on https://one.network/?tm=GB147636498 It only applies to those days and times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
6) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner
7) If the works are not completed within 18 months, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
