Feenan Highway and St Chads Road - Tilbury
Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic
1)The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, has made an Order the effect of
which is to: -
- Prohibit any vehicle from travelling along Feenan Highway between its junctions with Lawrence Avenue and St Chads Road.
- Prohibit any vehicle from travelling along St Chads Road from a point approx 95m north of its junction with Feenan Highway for a distance of approx 165m in a southerly direction to its junction with Millais Place.-
- Prohibit any vehicle from parking along the layby on Feenan Highway for approx 15m from the start at St Chads Road junction.
2) The purpose of the Order is to enable Contractors to carry out highway improvement works
due to a new development.
3) The alternative route for northbound vehicles is St Chads Road southbound, Calcutta Road,
Dock Road, Thurrock Park Way Roundabout, A1089, exit off slip A1089 To Marshfoot Road
Roundabout Northbound, Marshfoot Road Roundabout, Marshfoot Road, Gateway Academy
Roundabout Marshfoot Road, St Chads Road Roundabout, Marshfoot Road, Gateway
Academy Roundabout and St Chads Road and vice versa for southbound vehicles. The
alternative route for northbound vehicles on Fennan Highway will be southbound on Feenan
Highway, Brennan Road westbound, Civic Square, and join the main diversion. Access will
be maintained for residents and businesses at all times.
4) The Order will come into force on the 1st June 2026 at 09:00hrs and will be in force
continously until 24th June 2026.
Closures will be in place between 18th June 2026 and 22nd June 2026.
Parking prohibition will be in force between 1st and 24th June 2026.

presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations
and General Directions 2016.
5) In this Order the layby is referred to as:
The Layby approx. 15m southwest of its junction with St Chads Road for a distance of
approx 50m in a south westerly direction.
6) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order
will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been
completed, whichever is the sooner
7) If the works are not completed within 18 months, the Order may be extended for a longer
period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
