Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic

London Road and Motherwell Way - West Thurrock

1) The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:

- Prohibit any vehicle from travelling along London Road between its junctions with Schoolfield Road and Bay Manor Lane.

- Prohibit any vehicle from travelling along Motherwell Way between its junctions with Eastern Avenue and London Road.

- Prohibit any vehicle parking At Any Time during the times of the Order along both kerb lines of London Road between its junctions with Schoolfield Road and Bay Manor Lane.

- Prohibit any vehicle parking At Any Time during the times of the Order along both kerb lines of Motherwell Way between its junctions with Eastern Avenue and London Road.

2) The purpose of the Order is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing.

3) The alternative route for eastbound vehicles is Weston Avenue, West Thurrock Way Retail Park Roundabout, West Thurrock Way, Lancaster Roundabout, A126 West Thurrock Way southbound, Stoneness Roundabout, London Road westbound and vice versa for westbound vehicles. The alternative route for southbound vehicles on Motherwell Way is northbound on Motherwell Way, Heron Way and join the main diversion and vice versa for northbound vehicles on Motherwell Way. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses at all times.

4) The Order will come into force on the 25th January 2026 at 17:00hrs. Works are currently scheduled to take place on Sundays only between 25th January 2026 and 16th February 2026 between the hours of 17:00 and 05:00. Exact dates however will always be specified on https://one.network/?tm=GB147436985 It only applies to those days and times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner

6) If the works are not completed within 18 months, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
