Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic
London Road- South Stifford, Grays
1) The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:
- Prohibit any vehicle from parking along both kerb lines of London Road from its junction with Magnet Road for a distance of approx. 500m in an easterly direction.
- Prohibit any vehicle from travelling along London Road between its junctions with Magnet Road and Charlton Street.
2) The purpose of the Order is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out highway improvement works.
3) The alternative route for eastbound vehicles is London Road, London Road Roundabout, West Thurrock Way, Lancaster Roundabout, A126, Slip Road From A126 To Lakeside Central Roundabout, Lakeside Central Roundabout, Fenner Road, Fenner Road Roundabout, Burghley Road, Pilgrims Lane Roundabout, Arterial Road eastbound, Treacle Mine Roundabout, Elizabeth Road, Hogg Lane Roundabout, and Devonshire Road and vice versa for westbound vehicles. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses at all times.
4) The Order will come into force on the 30th March 2026 at 08:00hrs and remain in force continuously until 27th May 2026, however the closures will only be force on Sunday 17th and Sunday 24th May 2026 between the hours of 17:00 and 05:00. Exact dates however will always be specified on https://one.network/? tm=GB148983057 It only applies to those days and times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
5) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner 6) If the works are not completed within 18 months, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
