Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic

Public Footpath Princess Margaret Road to Coalhouse Fort East Tilbury

1) The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:

- Prohibit any pedestrians from travelling along Public Footpath Princess Margaret Road to Coalhouse Fort (Footpath 147) from Princess Margaret Road for a distance of approx 2.2km in an easterly direction to where it meets Footpath 218.

2) The purpose of the Order is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out footpath reconstruction.

3) The alternative route for eastbound travel on footpath 147 will be southbound along Princess Margaret Road to where it meets its most southern entry point for Footpath 147. The alternative route for westbound travel will be continue southbound on Footpath 147 to where is exits on Princess Margaret Road and then travel northbound on Princess Margaret Road.

4) The Order will come into force on the 21st July 2025 at 08:00hrs and remain in force continuously until 30th September 2025 at 18:00hrs. Exact dates however will always be specified on https://one.network/?tm=144115251 It only applies to those days and times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order will continue in force for a period not exceeding 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner

6) If the works are not completed within 6 months, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
