Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic
Station Road - East Tilbury
The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:
- Prohibit any vehicle from travelling along Station Road between its junctions with Church Road and Love Lane.
- Temporarily revoke the 7.5tn weight restriction on Station Road.
2) The purpose of the Order is to enable National Highways to carry out vegetation works in preparation for Lower Thames Crossing works.
3) The alternative route for eastbound vehicles is Church Road, Cooper Shaw Road, Fort Road, New Port Approach, Ferry Road, St Andrews Road, A1089, A13 eastbound, exit off slip A13 Eastbound To Orsett Cock Interchange, Orsett Cock Interchange, Stanford Road, Buckingham Hill Road, East Tilbury Road, Princess Margaret Road, and Station Road and vice versa for westbound vehicles. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses at all times.
4) The Order will come into force on the 5th January 2026 at 20:00hrs. Works are currently scheduled to take place nightly between 5th January 2026 and 10th January 2026 between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00. Exact dates however will always be specified on https://one.network/?tm=GB147137134 It only applies to those days and times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
5) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner
6) If the works are not completed within 18 months, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
