Cycle training

Support is available to help residents of all ages learn to cycle and improve their skills.

We use the GOV.UK: national standard for cycle training, which covers the skills and understanding needed to cycle safely and responsibly. We encourage cycling as an everyday activity, a healthy mode of transport and above all lots of fun.

Cycling lessons at school

All schools in Thurrock can book Bikeability lessons for pupils in year 4, year 6 and year 7. These take place during school hours

Go to Bikeability to find out more about 'cycling proficiency' for the 21st century.

Other cycling training

We can help with:

  • learn to ride sessions – one-to-one sessions for children aged 5 years-old and older who cannot ride a pedal bike unaided
  • adult training sessions – one-to-one cycling training with a qualified cycling instructor
  • family training sessions – training to help families or groups cycle together

If you would like to know more about these sessions, contact our Road Safety team.
