Notice of election published

12 November 2019
Thurrock Council has officially published notice of the upcoming general election which will take place on 12 December 2019.
Nominations for candidates are open from 10am on Tuesday 12 November. Anyone who wants to stand in the election can collect nomination papers at Thurrock Council's Civic Offices in New Road, Grays between 10am and 4pm from Tuesday 12 November to Thursday 14 November. Completed papers should be returned to the Civic Offices no later than 4pm on Thursday 14 November.

The results of Thurrock Council’s elections have been announced.
Elections took place in 16 of the borough’s 20 wards yesterday (Thursday, 2 May). The results mean there remains no party in overall control of the council, with the current breakdown of seats as follows:

Cast your vote in the 2019 local elections

10 April 2019
Thurrock Council is urging residents to have their say and make sure they are registered to vote before Thurrock goes to the polls on Thursday 2 May.
In order to cast a vote, residents must be on the electoral register. The deadline to apply to register is fast approaching and will close at midnight on Friday 12 April. Registration takes just 5 minutes online at gov.uk/register-to-vote or call the council elections office on 01375 652 816.

Thurrock Elections 2019

Thurrock Council has officially announced this year’s local election which will be held on Thursday 2 May 2019.
The notice of election was published today (Friday 22 March). Nominations to stand as a candidate close at 4pm on Wednesday, 3 April.
Polling cards will be delivered to eligible electors between Friday 22 March and Sunday 31 March. The poll card is for information only, it is not required to vote.

Aveley and Uplands by-election

22 March 2019
The results of the Aveley and Uplands by-election on Thursday 21 March have been announced. David Van Day, The Conservative Party, has been declared the winning candidate.
Votes were as follows:
Charles John Curtis (Labour Party) – 394
David Van Day (The Conservative Party) – 773
Alan Field (Thurrock Independents) – 551
Tomas Pilvelis (Liberal Democrat) – 55
A total of 1781 votes were cast, which was a turnout of 24.49%.

Candidates have been announced for the upcoming Aveley and Uplands by-election.
Nominations closed at 4pm, Friday 22 February 2019) and the candidates nominated are:

The Returning Officer for Thurrock Council has today published the Notice of Election for the Aveley and Uplands by-election.
The poll will be held on Thursday, 21 March 2019 and polling stations will open from 7am to 10pm.
Nominations to stand as a candidate for the Aveley and Uplands by-election close at 4pm on Friday 22 February 2019.
Polling cards will be delivered to all eligible electors in the Aveley and Uplands ward on the Electoral Register.

A Notice of Vacancy has been published for the Aveley and Uplands Ward following the resignation of sitting councillor, Tim Aker.
A by-election to fill the vacancy will be held within 35 days of the required notice being given to the Returning Officer in writing by 2 electors from the borough of Thurrock.

Thurrock elections 2018 results

4 May 2018
The results of Thurrock Council’s elections have been announced.
Elections took place in 16 of the borough’s 20 wards yesterday (Thursday, 3 May).
Following the count, these are the results: 
9 Labour – held 6 and gained 3
6 Conservative – held 4, gained 2 and lost 1
1 Thurrock Independents – held 1 and lost 4
Overall turnout was 30.29%.
The results mean there remains no party in overall control of the council, with the current breakdown of seats as follows:

Local election nominations for councillors have officially closed and the names of all candidates standing in for election in Thurrock on 3 May have been released.

Polling cards have been delivered to eligible electors giving details of their polling station and how to apply for postal or proxy votes. Polling hours on Thursday, 3 May are from 7am until 10pm.
