New primary school and nursery to be built in Aveley

Planning permission for the construction of a new, government-funded primary school and nursery in Aveley has been approved.
Harrier Primary School, which is due to be built on land adjacent to the A13 and Love Lane in Aveley, was agreed at Planning Committee on Thursday 9 June.
The new school will provide spaces for up to 420 prospective primary students and 52 nursery places. An open date of September 2023 is currently targeted, with a reception class of 30 pupils. The admission of new pupils will then increase year-on-year until the school has filled each year group.

Primary school places announced for September 2022

Figures released today, Tuesday 19 April, have revealed that the vast majority of children across Thurrock will receive one of their top 3 primary school choices for the September 2022 academic year.
Similar to last year’s results, from the 2,344 applications received this year over 96% of children will have been offered one of their top three places.
A total of 98.3% of primary school places were applied for online, an increase from 97.8% in 2021.

Primary school admissions to open in November

The next round of applications for primary school places in Thurrock opens on Monday 2 November 2020.
Parents and carers of children who were born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017 will be able to apply for a primary school place from this date. The deadline for this round of applications is 11.59pm on Friday 15 January 2021.
Cllr Andrew Jefferies, Cabinet member for education, said: "This November we welcome parents and carers to submit applications for their children who are due to start primary school next Autumn.
