Infrastructure-first approach to ambitious regeneration plans

Thurrock Council has vowed to make sure the vital infrastructure is in place to support its ambitious regeneration plans.
The council is working closely with partners on proposed schemes across six growth areas, which will bring big infrastructure improvements to Thurrock and create thousands of new homes and jobs in the borough.
Progress continues to be made with proposed regeneration projects in Purfleet, Grays, Lakeside and Tilbury, as well as at London Gateway and Thames Enterprise Park.

Publication of the government's new national housing planning strategy has meant that Thurrock Council has deferred making a decision on the next stage of its local plan.

Plans for the next stage of consultation for the Local Plan will be discussed at Planning, Transportation, Regeneration Overview and Scrutiny Committee on Wednesday 4 July.
Cllr Mark Coxshall, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, said: "The next stage of the Local Plan, called the 'issues and options' consultation, is all about seeking the views of our communities and key stakeholders about how Thurrock should develop and grow in the future.
