New grant to help local businesses hit by COVID-19 restriction costs

Thurrock businesses impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions can now apply for a Business Adaptation Grant of up to £2,500. The purpose of the government-funded grant is to help local businesses and support Thurrock's economic recovery.
Thurrock Council has developed the grant programme to support small to medium businesses that have been hit by the cost of implementing social distancing and safety measures. Businesses can apply for a 50% match-funded payment of between £1,000 and £2,500.

Thurrock businesses receive more than £940k in just two days

Thurrock Council has helped local businesses impacted by restrictions access more than £940k of support since the government announced the latest support package yesterday (Tuesday 5 January), bringing the overall total amount to £25.5millon since the start of the pandemic.
So far 131 local businesses who have registered their details for business support grants have received their payments. The first 100 were paid on Tuesday 5 January and a further 31 on Wednesday 6 January.
