Congratulations to students receiving GCSE results today

25 August 2022

Thurrock students are celebrating as they receive their GCSE results today, Thursday 25 August.

Cllr Barry Johnson, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, said: "This morning I visited Grays Convent and The Hathaway Academy with Cllr James Halden, Mayor of Thurrock. We met students receiving their GCSE results and it was wonderful to speak with young people about their grades and what their planned next steps and aspirations are.

"As we move further forward following the coronavirus pandemic, it’s impact is still being felt by many young people through the education system. Reflecting this uneven impact, and in partnership with partnering local authorities in other areas of the country, we will not be making a statement about the specific results today.

"I would encourage you to focus on the individual young people and their successes today. These results are for them and I would like to congratulate students for their resilience, determination and the results that they have worked so hard to achieve."
