Thurrock’s hard-working students have scored across-the-board higher A-Level results than last year with over 99% getting at least one pass and nearly 60% getting either an A or B grade in at least one subject.
An assessment of the borough’s A-Level results has revealed that marks are up in every category and the borough’s hardworking students and teachers beat the national average for the number of pupils passing at least one exam.
Overall:
- 99.21% of students got one or more A-E grades (up from 96.14% last year, an increase of 3.07%). The national average for students getting one or more A-E grades is 97.5%
- 91.31% of students got two or more A-E grades (up from 88.41% last year, an increase of 2.9%)
- 71.09% of students got three or more A-E grades (up from 64.61% last year, an increase of 6.48%)
Among the high achievers, results also improved in every category:
- 59.56% got one or more A or B grade (up from 54.25% last year, an increase of 5.31%)
- 44.55% got two or more A or B grades (up from 30.91% last year, an increase of 13.64%)
- 22.12% got three or more A or B grades (up from 17.77% last year, an increase of 4.34%)

“As well as across-the-board increases in results, we have topped the national average with more than 99% of pupils getting at least one pass.
“These marks are the result of two years’ hard work by pupils and their teachers, they are the culmination of study, revision and dedication by everyone. Students richly deserve the success they have achieved.
