Thurrock to benefit from new Towns Fund

Grays and Tilbury have been selected by the government to receive their share of a new £3.6billion funding pot to help improve infrastructure, drive economic growth and increase job opportunities.
Both are one of 100 places to benefit from the new Towns Fund and will potentially receive up to £25million each to transform the towns with a focus on improved transport, broadband connectivity, skills and culture.

Investors in town as council continues multi-billion pound regeneration plans

About 60 developers and investors visited Thurrock yesterday (Tuesday 18 September) as Thurrock Council seeks to transform the borough and make it an even better place to live, work, play and learn.
Representatives from about 40 different organisations attended the council’s regeneration event at High House Production Park in Purfleet as the council outlined how it is seeking to secure more investment in the borough.

South Essex councils set out vision for region's growth

Councils across south Essex have agreed a common approach to supporting the development of housing and key infrastructure over the next 20 years.
The Association of South Essex Local Authorities (ASELA) – which is made up of Basildon, Brentwood, Castle Point, Essex County, Rochford, Southend-on-Sea, and Thurrock councils – has drafted a 'Statement of Common Ground' (SCG). This sets out the next steps and is an important part in focusing economic growth across the region.

Councils to work together like never before

A 'game-changing' association of south Essex councils has been formed with the signing of a memorandum of understanding.
The Association of South Essex Local Authorities (ASELA) consists of Basildon, Brentwood, Castle Point, Essex County, Rochford, Southend-on-Sea, and Thurrock councils. All 7 councils have recognised the need to work across borders on strategic issues such as infrastructure, planning and growth.

Progress discussed on ambitious regeneration plans

A summary report for local regeneration was discussed at this week’s Full Council meeting (Wednesday 25 October) with Cllr Mark Coxshall highlighting exciting plans for Tilbury and Grays.
He said: "Thurrock's growth agenda continues to be one of the most ambitious in the country and through its 'open for business' approach we've already attracted a number of large scale regeneration projects, including London Distribution Park at the Port of Tilbury, the continuing investment at DP World London Gateway, Thames Enterprise Park, Purfleet Port and the expansion of Lakeside."
